Over the last few years, Senior Salons has been increasing in popularity in around Seattle at assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and retirement communities. Owner and operator, Barbara Bollinger, started the company back in 1998, and now operates in 35 different locations around the region. Therefore it is easy to say that business is booming. In fact, things are going so well for Bollinger that she was recently nominated by the Seattle-based Women Business Owners (WBO) as one of the five finalists for the upcoming 28th annual Nellie Cashman Award. This award is intended to honor those local women business owners “who have enhanced the status of women entrepreneurs through their vision, perseverance and fearless, relentless leadership in business and the community.” The award is just another indicator of how well things are going for Senior Salons, as they had to have gross revenues of over $1 million just to be in the running for the Nellie Cashman Award.
However Bollinger was quick to point out that she could not have had the success to date, if it was not for her business partner Elisa Tobin. The team make a great pair, as Tobin handles the company’s books and database, while Bollinger is the salon expert who takes care of staff, schedules and their 35 locations. Together the team has grown Senior Salons to the big business it is today, that is helping thousands of seniors in the Seattle area look amazing. The official winner of the Nellie Cashman Award will not be announced until October 14, but despite who wins, Senior Salons will continue to provide excellent salon services to seniors throughout the region.
