WellAWARE System Delivers Sleep Info

A good night’s sleep is important. It’s important for good mental, physical, and emotional health. It’s important for little babies, growing children – tweens and teens, and hard working adults. It’s also important for seniors. Seniors and babies are probably the two groups who have the most time to get that sleep.

In assisted living facilities, many seniors find themselves with considerably less work to do on a daily basis (even though some are staying in the workforce later in life, and just enjoying the easier pace of living). Yard, house cleaning, and regular maintenance are all taken care of by the staff. In some cases, meals and other services are even included, leaving the seniors there with very little else to do.

However, even with all this “luxury” and the chance to catch some extra sleep, WellAWARE reports that “65% of residents” in assisted living facilities experience “clinically significant sleep disturbances.” This means that for whatever reason, most seniors are not getting that good night’s that is so critical to their health and wellbeing.

Well, WellAWARE is taking a stand against this growing trend with their “Sleep Well, Be Well” technology. The system gathers data during the overnight hours and relays it to the assisted living staff who can then use it to take positive action to improve the standard of life for all in their care. Illinois’ Lexington Health Network will be starting to implement the technology into their assisted living homes. Says CEO Dale Zalatel:

“Lexington Health Network is committed to providing personalized, high-quality healthcare for our senior residents. As the level of acuity in both independent and assisted living continues to rise, we needed to find a new approach to care delivery and create a new standard of care. By utilizing WellAWARE’s market leading technology platform, we are able to optimize our care delivery model which is beneficial for our residents and creates a market differentiator for Lexington Health.”
